Danantara, Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, is reportedly planning to buy a 10 percent stake in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The idea isn't new: back in February, Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani said it was common practice for sovereign wealth funds — a role Danantara partly fulfills — to hold stakes in the exchanges their countries run on.

What's notable is the scale: a tenth of IDX itself, not just companies listed on it. For a fund still establishing how far its reach should go into Indonesia's economy, owning a piece of the marketplace raises real questions about independence — even as it signals how seriously Jakarta wants to professionalize and deepen its capital markets.

Umbro's Owner Quietly Puts Itself Up for Sale

Iconix has hired J.P. Morgan to find a buyer, with Authentic Brands Group already in talks, sources say.

Iconix, the brand-management company behind Umbro, has brought in J.P. Morgan to find it a buyer, according to WWD sources. The company has already spoken with Authentic Brands Group — the serial acquirer whose portfolio includes Reebok and Forever 21 — but those conversations haven't produced a deal yet.

ABG has built an empire out of scooping up exactly this kind of distressed or orphaned brand, so a sale would fit a familiar pattern. Whether Umbro ends up there or elsewhere, the move signals more consolidation ahead in an industry where owning a famous name is easier than running one profitably.
